Kara & Terrence came to us from San Diego wanting a beautiful wedding in South Haven, the town she vacationed in as a child. But they were not planning on coming to Michigan until the wedding. We gathered basic information over the phone and pulled together a beautiful, intimate, and fun wedding for them and their families. Beautiful day for a beautiful couple. Summer 2010

Cheyenne & Kyle wanted an intimate but beautiful wedding on the beaches of South Haven. We only met with them 1 time prior to the wedding to develop the “big picture” of what they wanted their day to look like. Then we took it from there to create a day they wouldn’t forget. Beautiful weather, fond memories, and surpassed their expectations. That is our goal…. always. What a wonderful couple.

We love planning summer beach weddings but winter weddings can be great too! Planning a winter wedding has it’s challenges but no more than summer weddings. Things to consider when looking for a lakeshore wedding venue

We get many calls from people wanting to get married on our beautiful Southwest Michigan Lakeshore. The beautiful beaches, romantic sunsets, and a plethera of outdoor activities await and are very inticing. But there are things to consider when thinking about our lakeshore that most have no knowledge of.

Southwest Michigan has 82 miles,from Saugatuck south, of fabulous Lake Michigan shoreline that is full of small, quaint little tourist towns excellent for smaller weddings. With South Haven being the most popular for weddings in our opinion. When looking for a lakeshore wedding venue there is a lot to consider that most people do not understand. These are unique areas and have unique situations. Some towns do not allow anything more than a quick ceremony on the beach not allowing any rentals brought in while others prefer only a certain number of people allowed for an organized event on the beach at one time. There are places for outdoor receptions as well as indoor but it will depend on what time of year, how many guests, and more as far as if they will allow a reception there. Most of our shoreline is owned by private individuals so commercial venues on the lake are very hard to find. Although if you have connections with the right people, you know the area, you know the rules, and are willing to negotiate and be flexible, there are some beautiful places to be had. Choosing a florist is another important part of wedding planning and it is imparative that you find the RIGHT florist to meet your needs in order to save you time and money. Below are some questions to ask yourself BEFORE setting up an appointment:

Do I desire floral only or do I need to include reception decorating also? (Some florists will make floral bouquets & arrangements while others will provide a complete decorating service.)
Determine your style then look at theirs’. (example: some florists will have a traditional style while others will provide creative modern looks – you want to work with the one that partners with your style.)
Decide date, location, and colors for your wedding.

Many people from across the country are coming to us with big dreams of planning a wedding along our beautiful lakeshore or other areas of Southwest Michigan and are totally lost on how much their budget should be to achieve this. We are finding that today’s couples are somewhat confused by all of the websites, magazines, and TV shows telling them that they can plan a wedding for “X” amount of dollars and finding out that they are spending hundreds of hours trying to make this happen without success. So here is some advice from our 11 years of actual wedding planning experience in Southwest Michigan. Reality is, weddings are costly whether you have 50 or 350 people there to celebrate with you. The cost of your wedding will depend on the area, location,what is important to you, the types of flowers and atmosphere you choose, the food, music, and so much more. Your budget will dictate much of your decisions. Reality is, Small budgets($20,000 or less) = less options, and larger budgets ($25,000 and beyond) = more options, plain and simple.
