Step 2 – Determine the guest list- Dec 23, 2009
(If you missed Step 1, please review)
The number of guests you decide to invite will affect almost every part of your wedding planning. So it is important to get this down on paper or in an electronic spreadsheet as soon as you finish Step 1 “Establish a budget”. Again, it will be important to decide who will have input on the guest list. If you are having a small intimate wedding then you may be able to determine who will be invited on your own. If you are going to have a large celebration then you may want input from parents as well. Start by getting everyone’s list of who they think should be invited. Compare and if the list is far more than what you would like to have, then begin by cutting the least important people first. Such as: If you are closer to friends then you are extended family then cut the extended family. If you are closer to your colleagues then you are friends, then cut there. Most couples now are also cutting all children from the guest list or limiting them to only the ones that will be in the wedding if you are having any. It is all about prioritizing. Remember that this is your wedding (bride & groom), so you decide what your priorities are and who will share in your special day.
Stay tuned for the 3rd and final step of starting out right when planning your wedding!
